BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The CBTS Inc.’s board members serve on a volunteer basis without remuneration. We shared a vision for reattaching the steeple to the church tower, as well as the preservation and conservation of the St. Philip’s old 1894 church. Now, after its unnecessary demolition, we share a vision to remember the St. Philip’s old 1894 church.

 

President
Stephen Sharpe, St. John’s, NL. Retired business person. Life long parishioner and former Select Vestry member of St. Philip’s Anglican Parish. Born and raised in St. Philip’s. Active member in 2008/2009 of St. Philip’s Anglican Church Men’s Association. Former director Family History Society. Member Newfoundland and Labrador Historic Trust, and Heritage Canada Foundation. Founding President The Church By The Sea Heritage Group. MUN graduate: Bachelor of Commerce 1973, and Bachelor of Arts (French Major) 2007.

Past Vice-President
Winston Fiander, MUN graduate and retired executive of the Public Service of Canada where he directed corporate planning in various departments in Ottawa. Currently involved in identifying and preserving heritage assets of the Town of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s. Active member of the Fisheries Community Alliance, an organization dedicated to rebuilding our fishery and our rural communities. Member of a MUN steering committee preparing a report on a 5 year fishery research project, led by Dr. Barbara Neis, on the west coast of Newfoundland. Has lived in the heritage area of St. Philip’s for over 17 years. Owns and maintains a heritage house in Coombs Cove, Fortune Bay where he was born and raised.

Treasurer
Maria D. Squires, St. John’s, NL. Born and raised in St. Philip’s, lifetime parishioner of St. Philip’s Anglican Parish, and former member of the church choir. Worked at the Grace Hospital as personnel officer, received ICS diploma as interior designer and decorator; licensed realtor in the provinces of Alberta, and Newfoundland and Labrador. Currently a realtor with Re/Max Realty Specialists. A founding member of The Church By The Sea Heritage Group.

Cyril Morgan: FCPA, FCGA. Born and raised in St. John’s. A resident and homeowner in St. Philip’s for over forty years. Businessman. An active Rotarian since 1971, and a recipient of a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow Award.
