Parish to Sell and Remove Old 1894 St. Philip's Church
December 6, 2009
At the Dec. 1st "Special Congregation Meeting", it was announced by Rev. Keeping that:
there will be a tender call to have the old church sold and removed from the present property.
- it was stated at the beginning of the meeting, that the one topic would be the old church.
- yet this most important topic (of the old church) was not previously given out or publicized to the Parishioners by the Vestry or clergy before the meeting. The Nov. 22 & 29 church bulletins stated "... that a special meeting of the St. Philip's Anglican Church congregation will be held ...". There was no pre-announcement of the topic.
- those attending the special meeting were told that the motion was "not debatable" at all by the Parishioners at the meeting. Those attending were advised that it was "an information session only".

Here is the Parish motion information, as printed in an insert in the Dec. 6th. Sunday church service bulletin:

The Select Vestry (of St. Philips Anglican Parish) has approved a motion regarding the building that was once St. Philips Anglican Church located in our cemetery. The motion reads as follows:

That we call a tender to have the old church sold and removed from the present property. The tender would state that the buyer would be responsible for the restoration of any property damage during the removal and the site of the old church to be left in its original state. The successful bidder would buy insurance to cover any injuries sustained to workers during the work period. A deadline for the completion of the work to be decided at the time of signing of the agreement

Motion carried.
