Heritage Canada The National Trust approves a $25,000 interest free loan to The CBTS, conditional on an agreement to preserve the St. Philip’s 1894 Heritage Church. Several Heritage Canada Board Members went a step further and wrote personal cheques to support this project. The CBTS can contribute to re-shingle the church roof and put the steeple back up on the church tower.

⬤ ACOA (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s Innovative Communities Fund) awarded over $153,000 to Heart’s Content Mizzen Heritage Society Inc. to renovate and restore the United Church heritage structure. If and with an agreement by the Anglican Diocese to restore the St. Philip’s 1894 church, it would enable the CBTS to make applications for similar restoration funding.

⬤ Ann Picco is welcomed as a new Member of the CBTS Board of Directors. Ann, who is a life long resident of St. Philip’s, has experience working with three municipalities, and a passion for heritage and history to help the CBTS Board move forward with its goals to save, preserve and use the St. Philip’s Heritage Church building.

⬤ The CBTS is calling on Bishop Peddle to withdraw the demolition application and to initiate mediation as a means of settling the differences between demolition and restoration advocates.

⬤ The CBTS is calling on the PCSP Town council to reject the demolition application, and support mediation with a view to saving the old church.

⬤ The Church By The Sea Inc. Heritage Group is committed to reaching an agreement that will respect sound community development, the town’s historic past, and the PCSP Municipal Plan and Regulations.

⬤ We call on Council to bring the Anglican Diocese, the St. Philip’s Parish, the CBTS, and the PCSP Town together, to serve the best interests of the town plus the Diocese and St. Philip’s Parish.

Thank you for your support!
